Yes, everyone on earth, at some point —will get the occasional breakout. Which means that we need to have the best acne treatments at hand, at all times. The reality is that sometimes, what we think are the best treatments aren’t so good for breakouts — and exactly what you’d think not to do is, in fact, the right way to go!
So, we have decided we should share the knowledge!
Don’t overcleanse. One of the biggest misconceptions with acne is that you need to cleanse with a harsh gel cleanser that contains salicylic acid or glycolic acid to suck every last bit of moisture out of your skin. Obviously, you should always seek professional advice, because everyone’s skin is different, but they’ll probably tell you this: You’re over cleansing, which causes drying, which causes more breakouts—it’s a vicious cycle.
This gentle, yet thorough cleanser removes dirt, stubborn makeup, and excess oil and tones the skin at the same time. Natural witch-hazel does the toning, while chamomile soothes, and essential fatty acids and vitamin E restore and protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Leaves skin looking clean, soft and refreshed. Suitable for sensitive skin.
Tone down the scrubbing. Exfoliating is fantastic, however, scrubing your face with harsh formulas daily, is not so great, because it can dry out the skin. Instead, opt for gentle exfoliating pads or face washes and only every other day.
These pads exfoliate, resurface and treat the appearance of skin all night long. Acid-free nightly retinol treatment helps exfoliate, renew and moisturise the look of skin to help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, skin tone and texture.
A clinical dose of Retinyl Palmitate, a form of Vitamin A that is more gentle than retinol, begins working immediately to help renew the look of acne prone and ageing skin. Glucosamine, an acid-free exfoliator, works throughout the night to help gently exfoliate, renew and smooth the appearance of skin from application to removal without overdrying.
A high performance form of Vitamin C helps visibly brighten and even the look of skin tone. Ceramides help replenish moisture with essential lipids while Allantoin, Aloe Vera and Chamomile help soothe and calm the appearance of skin. Double-sided resurfacing pads help physically exfoliate to clear the skin’s surface of impurities, revealing a more even and youthful look.
First hydrate, then zap. Topical treatments work best when your face is moist and hydrated. Applying a spot treatment with salicylic acid to dry skin will not deliver great results, so flip your routine.
