It can be daunting when it comes to choosing what to use when there is so much variety available. It all comes down to what effect you desire, but an understanding of the properties and levels of pigmentation on offer will help you master your make-up routine.
For a light, natural look
BB cream is the way to go. It is similar to a tinted moisturiser except it has additional elements added to it to help the skin, like SPF and skincare benefits. BB creams are the most sheer and perfect for minimal coverage and a no-make-up effect.
For more coverage
Foundation is a mainstay of make-up: it’s versatile, and can be built up or sheered out depending on how you use it. It is perfect for full coverage effect, and smoothing out the skin on your face, minimising pores and mild discolouration.
To hide or cover an area
Concealer is thicker than foundation; it contains high levels of pigment, as such it is only intended for smaller areas such as scarring, acne or more extreme discolouration. Use it sparingly and don’t forget to blend it well.
