Male Grooming Review: Thalgo Intensive Hydrating Cream

mens review

Looking good means more than dressing well. It also extends to keeping our skin in check and our grooming routine downpat. But let’s be honest, when it comes to maintaining a consistent skincare regime, men can find the whole process kind of ‘girly’ and overly metrosexual. But, if we want our skin looking and feeling healthy, it is imperative that we at least moisturise. Let me explain…

Your skin is constantly put under the stresses of day to day life, from icy to scorching temperatures, harmful UV rays, damaging pollutants in the air and the bacteria brewing on our hands. So how does our skin handle this kind of torture? Well in most cases it doesn’t. Blocked pores, blackheads, pimples, greasy or overly dry skin are just some of the effects that neglecting your skin can result in.

However, it’s a little more intricate than going to your local supermarket and grabbing any moisturiser off the shelf. Sometimes dishing out a little extra for a worthwhile investment is your best bet. In fact, doing your research will save you coin, disappointment and further skin woes.

So whatever your level of grooming interest, here’s your solution: Thalgomen Intensive Hydrating Cream. One word: impressive.

In the past I’ve used creams that seem to leave my skin feeling overly oily and parched, which is a bit disappointing, given the skin-salving claims on the packaging. But this all-day moisturiser is a non-oily cream-gel that gets to work immediately at restoring the skin, leaving it tight, plump and super hydrated. The consistency is thin and lightweight and doesn’t leave the skin sticky or clogged.

Thalgo’s secret weapon in their men’s product-line is the Algue Bleue Vitale, which draws its strength from the depths of the 6000-year-old Klamath Lake that is referred to as the Medicine Lake. As it goes about absorbing into your skin, the anti-ageing Algue Bleue Vitale stimulates cellular renewal and leaves behind a replenished surface, a powerful combo every man should have in their arsenal. All you need is one application over the face and neck in the morning for a hit of refreshment and hydration.

Did I mention that it smells awesome? I found myself from time-to-time opening the bottle just to get a whiff. Seriously, it’s that good. It gives off a kind of fresh, lightly minted aroma reminiscent of an ocean breeze (obviously the Algue Bleue Vitale working its magic).

All-in-all this is a great product with only one drawback and that is purely aesthetic. The blue packaging is relatively plain and doesn’t do justice to the overall goodness inside. Having said that, it blends in well with your other basin products plus the vessel contains a cap-like contraption that means the formula is easily dispensable and remains fresh at all times.

Just remember lads, of all the weapons a man can possess in his grooming arsenal, this moisturiser is definitely it.

      Hey Chizz,

I have a combination of both dry and oily skin and have been quite happy with the results. The product is a rich non-greasy moisturiser that is suitable for all skin types.
